How the Emmy Nominations Should Have Gone

So the time has come. The Emmys are nearing and as always, there is always controversy regarding who they choose to nominate. And this year isn’t any different. I don’t claim to know everything about television, because I don’t watch nearly all of the shows out there. But, i do know amazing acting and programming when I see it. So, yes, I did have a few issues with the nominations this year. They nominated past winners and nominees that just don’t deserve it this year. They completely overlook individuals and shows that put out material that screams award recognition. But they didn’t get it. So below is my list for who should have been nominated. It is formatted the same as most other sites and you may disagree with me completely and that is okay. But this is my take and who I believe deserves it. So you will see Downton Abbey completely gone from my list. Not that I don’t think its worthy, but because I have never seen it and can’t put it above things I have seen and think deserve it. You will also see some of the categories being completely identical because they either got it right, or I didn’t see enough to add or remove nominees. So with that being said, take a look at who I think should have been nominated below and share your thoughts if you feel the need to. Continue reading

Game of Thrones Season Four — TV SEASON REVIEW

“YOU RAPED HER! YOU MURDERED HER! YOU KILLED HER CHILDREN!” –Oberyn “The Red Viper” Martell

It is a fun experience watching Game of Thrones. I don’t know how far they will deviate from the books or how they will execute certain events or scenes. Honestly, I wish I hadn’t read the books so that I could go into each season with a blank mind with no idea what is in store for me. I would be shocked when someone dies. I would get goosebumps when a character steps up. And as a reader of the books, I was still worried going into Season Four. Why? Because they had just ended Season Three on one of the biggest shocking events on TV…ever. They had gotten rid of the character viewers most likely rooted for the most. Without that aspect, would the show still be able to hold the same vibe? Would it still feel like the same show? The short answer: Yes. Continue reading

12 TV Deaths That Still Affect Us Emotionally

Michael McElhatton and Richard Madden in Game of Thrones’ famous “Red Wedding”

There are still numerous deaths on television that affect us to this day. Some deaths either still make us very sad or piss us off completely. There are many different emotions; anger, sadness, shock, etc. This list isn’t specific to any one of them. All of these emotions affect us on a day to day basis. It is only right that I showcase the deaths on television that, at least for me, bring out certain emotions. With the most recent deaths on Game of Thrones and The Good Wife, I feel this is the perfect time to write this. Oh, and if you don’t want to know the deaths of characters on shows you haven’t seen, don’t do this to yourself by willingly reading spoilers. There is the only warning you will get. Let’s move on. Game of Thrones “The Lion and the Rose” — TV EPISODE REVIEW

Natalie Dormer and Jack Gleeson in Game of Thrones

SPOILER ALERT. That is your first warning. Game of Thrones does it again. They give us a fantastic episode that centers around a wedding. Except, not as much bloodshed this time. No bloodshed to be exact. But that ending will have fans cheering for hours. It was nice to see that George R.R. Martin wrote the episode. I like that for the big episodes, or at least the ones that he is passionate about; he gets to come on and write the scenes how he wants. So lets dig into “The Lion and the Rose.” Continue reading

Game of Thrones “Two Swords” — TV EPISODE REVIEW

Game of Thrones has always been known for its unrelenting bloodshed and nudity, but it really is one of the smartest shows on television today. There is so much plotting and scheming going on behind the scenes that make this show a real treat. Of course, the real credit goes to the source material, written by the incredibly detailed George R.R. Martin. Last season left the entire world of television viewers shocked and with a horrible feeling in the pit of their stomachs after witnessing one of, if not THE most horrific event ever shown on television with the Red Wedding. But with the aftermath of all of that, where does that leave our characters (the ones that are left, at least). For those of you that are interested, here is the list of all of the characters that will most likely die before the show is over. Continue reading

True Detective — Does it Live Up to the Hype?

true
There is no denying the appeal of True Detective. It stars two brilliant leads in the likes of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. And they don’t disappoint. They both do things acting-wise that I didn’t even know they could do. Yes, I know McConaughey has hit a stride of amazing roles these past couple years. It all started with The Lincoln Lawyer. Then he landed great roles in films like Dallas Buyers Club, Mud, Killer Joe, and now this True Detective show. For so many years, I was used to McConaughey the “rom-com-King”. So many years went by where he did just horrible movies. They were all mostly romantic comedies, but this became his image. He was the guy from The Wedding Planner or How to Lose a guy in 10 Days. Luckily, I forgot he even did Fool’s Gold. But he has really turned his career around, picking some truly amazing roles. This HBO show is going to get some Emmy love when the time comes, there is no doubt in my mind about that. But how much love will it get? Continue reading
