Community Season Five Finale “Basic Sandwich’ — TV EPISODE REVIEW

Yvette Nicole Brown, Jonathan Banks, and John Oliver in Community

Community has always been a show that isn’t afraid to make fun of itself or even make jokes about the network it unfortunately gets aired on. And Dan Harmon has never been the kind of guy to hold back. If he wants to say something, he says it. Harmon and company definitely make some statements in this episode. But at least it was done in an extremely funny and tasteful manner. “Basic Sandwich” is the season five finale, and immediately follows the events of  “Basic Story.” Continue reading

Community “Basic Story” — TV EPISODE REVIEW

Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Jim Rash, Gillian Jacobs, and Jonathan Banks in Community

Community has always had it’s ups and downs. It is a bubble show every single year. Every year, fans pray and hope that this show gets renewed. And it comes down to the wire every year. The ratings are usually never there. But there is such a following with this show that it is difficult to just completely cancel it. Over the years, the term “six seasons and a movie” has become this huge phrase that the fans will shout and tweet whenever they can. It almost seems like Community can make it that far, if they go the distance. Which is why it was kind of humorous to have one of the final episodes of the season, and maybe of the series in general; about Greendale getting sold. Continue reading

The Blacklist “Mako Tanida”– TV EPISODE REVIEW

The Blacklist is one of those weird shows. It is a procedural by nature, but the character of Raymond “Red’ Reddington is just so damn good, that nothing else matters. This show has had an issue lately when it comes to Red. Or should I say, everyone else but Red. Whenever James Spader is not on screen, the show loses about half of my interest. The other characters are just kind of boring. Liz is only interesting when she is with Red and Uncle Mike from Homeland is a bore…most of the time. Then, there is this weeks episde, Mako Tanida. They always name the episodes after whoever the bad guy is and that’s cool I guess. So lets get to business here. Continue reading

Parks and Recreation “New Slogan” — TV EPISODE REVIEW

“New Slogan” brought us yet another Duke Silver appearance in Parks and Recreation. I always love seeing that jazzy fellow make an appearance. It is usually once or twice a year, we actually get an episode with him or an episode that references him. Nick Offerman really is perfect as Ron Swanson. Not enough words in existence could possibly describe how perfect Offerman is as Ron. But this episode also showed us more of Leslie’s obsessive ways to get shit done (or not get shit done).

Community “VCR Maintenance and Educational Publishing” — TV EPISODE REVIEW

He really didn’t know what that was…

Community has really had a reputation for having some really strange episodes. “VCR Maintenance and Educational Publishing” was one of those strange ones to me. It was just odd. The study group was split into two different stories; Abed and Annie having their own story while Jeff, Shirley, Hickey, Britta, and even Chang had their own side quest. But did it all work? Continue reading

Hannibal “Sakizuki” — TV EPISODE REVIEW

“I believe you.”

Okay, so holy shit. That was kind of disgusting. That opening scene, as amazing as it was, was actually pretty gross. Watching that dude tear up his skin as he stretches his way lose from other bodies was just rough. Glad I wasn’t eating at that time. Also, his fall was brutally unsympathetic. Just…bam, bye-bye. Hannibal is at it’s highest quality right now. It doesn’t look like it is going to let up any time soon. Continue reading

Believe Series Premiere — TV EPISODE REVIEW

NBC’s new TV series “Believe”, brought to you by J.J. Abrams (Lost) and Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity)

Believe is a new show that premiered on NBC. It is an odd mix of different things. It has a mystery element, a procedural element, and also a good vs bad element. Now, this show is about a girl with what seems to be some special powers and the people who have to protect her. At the start of the show, we see a little girl named Bo (played by Johnny Sequoyah) get into a car accident with her foster parents. And we see that people are after her. They want her for…reasons. We don’t know what they are but we assume their intentions aren’t exactly noble. Especially when these people killed her foster parents to get to her. They were unsuccessful the first time though. Continue reading

Heroes Reborn — Brilliant Idea or a Mistake?

HeroesRebornNewsfront
So I was sitting at a buddy’s house watching UFC 170 live on pay per view, seeing some pretty decent fights; when all of a sudden, I check my Twitter. And low and behold, there it was. Tweets and retweets galore. The Rousey fight hadn’t even come on yet (Go Rowdy Ronda, by the way!) and I see the news. Apparently, during the Olympics, a quick ten second teaser aired on NBC. Heroes Reborn. No one knows anything about it and it is all speculation at this point, but do we think it is a good idea to resurrect a show that started so high and finished so low?  Continue reading
