24: Live Another Day (SPOILERS) — TV SEASON REVIEW

Tate Donovan and Kiefer Sutherland in 24: Live Another Day

When 24: Live Another Day was first announced, I was not pleased. I had still been royally ticked off with the entire last season, including the way they chose to end it. I didn’t want more of that garbage. But what I failed to do was think on the terrific six seasons that it had (6 + 8 were the bad ones). Just like a bad breakup, you think of the bad moments and not the good ones that had you involved in the first place. But then the Super Bowl teaser came out and it had me excited for 24 once again. It was strange. Just hearing Jack Bauer’s yell had me extremely excited for the new season. I just hoped it was done right. Continue reading

The Wire: Complete Series — TV SERIES REVIEW

THIS IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS OF ALL TIME FOR A REASON.

BY: TIM MORSE
June 14, 2014

Wendell Pierce, Dominic West, Sonja Sohn, and Clarke Peters in HBO’s The Wire

It is hard to put into words the amount of respect I have for The Wire. It is most certainly one of the most ambitious and realistic shows you will ever watch. It is a shame that it was forced to end after five seasons. There were plenty of stories left to tell and I would have loved to watch every single one of them. The Wire is kind of like a book, in a way. There are numerous characters that fill up this story and it leaves you with just the right amount of answers. Continue reading

Justified Season Four Review — TV SERIES REVIEW

Timothy Olymphant and Walton Goggins in Justified

Justified is one of those underrated television shows that I’m never caught up with. Hence why I am reviewing the fourth season after Season Five has already concluded. They always release the DVDs a short period of time before the new season airs and I never watch them in time for the premiere. So, now I get to review this season now, as I have just finished it. How does it hold up in comparison to the previous seasons? Continue reading

The Series Finale and the Difficulty of Satisfying Fans

The late and great James Gandolfini in the final episode of HBO’s The Sopranos

Why are series finales so hard to do in the right way? It seems like a weird question. A show can run at a near perfect level of quality for several years; but then it can piss fans off beyond belief with their final episodes. Why does that happen? This entire post is happening because of a series of conversations I have had with several people over the last few weeks. I’ve asked them what some of their favorite finales were and why they liked or hated specific ones. Shows like The Sopranos can leave fans with a bitter taste in their mouths after the final few minutes and Dexter can make the entire series feel like a waste of time to other fans. It is actually quite funny in a way. These shows become landmarks for what the quality of television should be. Yet they still manage to make fans angry.
